The most important monument in Atrani is the Church of San Salvatore de Birecto, where the coronation of the highest government officials once took place. The church is very ancient, founded in 940, it contains a marble pluteus from the 11th century showing reliefs in a Byzantine style and some figures in the Lombard style. The church has a square plan with pronaos in front and is divided into three aisles with barrel vaults. Walking inside the San Salvatore Church takes you back in time to the ancient Amalfi Duchy splendor.

Town is reachable by the local bus following along the coast. Use there a car is a good idea, but the traffic is very complicated because of the narrow and twisted coastal road.
